1972 The Ugandan leader, Idi Amin, set a deadline for the expulsion

1987 An American woman Lynne Cox, 30, become the first person to
swim from the United States to the Soviet Union across the Bering
Strait.
1998 US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed, by terrorists.

2001 The government re-nationalised a private hospital for the first
time. The Department of Health paid £27m for the luxury private
Heart Hospital just off Harley Street.
2003 Amrozi bin Nurhasyim was convicted for the Bali nightclub
