1968 In a three-day annual event which began in 1960 when Dover's
Chamber of Commerce decided to tackle complaints. Dover residents

1977 Five British plane-spotters imprisoned in Greece for spying
were released after spending 10 weeks in jail.
1989 Tanks rolled into Tiananmen Square, Beijing as soldiers fired
on peaceful demonstrators killing several hundred people.
